Abstract
The kinetics of the removal of chromium complex dye (Lanasyn Navy M-DNL) from aqueous solutions using polymeric adsorbent Macronet MN 200 (MN 200) as an alternative option for activated carbon Norit RB 0.8 CC (AC) was studied in the batch system. The residual colour of dye solution treated with AC or MN 200 strongly depends on solution pH with lower values at acidic pH when a positively charged surface net is favourable for the adsorption of the dye anion. The removal of dye using MN 200 was found relatively higher than that using AC. The pseudo-second order and intraparticle diffusion models agreed well with experimental data. The parameters of these models were studied as a function of temperature and adsorbent nature.
