Research of the Resistance of Contact Welding Joint of R65 Type Rail

Abstract
In the article the R65 type rail joints that were welded by resistance welding are analysed. Survey methodology of the research consists of the following parts: visual inspection of welded joint, ultrasonic rail inspection, hardness test of upper part of the rail, fusion area research, the measurement hardness test of heat-softened area, the measurement microhardness test, microstructure research of the welded joint, impact strength experiments, chemical analysis of welded joint, wheel-rail interaction research using the finite element method (FEM). The results of the research are analysed and the quality of weld is evaluated. The conclusion is based on the results of this research.
